The New HSBC Campaign Is Bad, Actually

Wow, I love Banksy This new HSBC ad campaign? It's Not Good . Let's go through why, step by step. Think of this post like an expanding brain meme in essay form. Here's the actual ad, by the way: Broke: "The ad is good because it's against Brexit!" Let's get this out of the way: "That's the bad argument? Yikes, fam, didn't realise you were a Brexiteer..." I'm not a Brexiteer. I know I said I was against globalisation in the last post , but I'm not particularly opposed to the sentiment expressed in the adverts. I like chicken tikka masala (and sweet and sour chicken, doner kebabs, etc.), I enjoy a continental lager from time to time, and the only reason I don't currently support a Belgian striker is Benteke 's injured and Freedman won't pull the trigger and bring in Batshuayi . I may have my reservations, but I also accept I live in a thoroughly globalised world and that isn't going to change anytime so...

An Introduction Of Sorts

Welcome to the blog. Here are some things you'll need to know. 1. On Multicultural London English I'm going to use it all the time, and I'm not going to explain what anything means. I'm serious. No more linking to Urban Dictionary. Yes, it's incredibly exclusive and insular. No, I don't care, it's praxis. One's locale is everything. Specificity is everything. National one-sidedness and narrow-mindedness become more and more impossible, and from the numerous national and local literatures, there arises a world literature." I know that sounds utopian and good but it's actually terrible, I promise. Accents and sports teams are pretty much all we have left to differentiate ourselves, and I intend to use them both to their full extent. You get me? Safe, lad. That's what the "do sul" in the blog name is by t...

Yeah, And It's Junior Sprezz

“ONE FINDS CONTENT’S WORTH LESS -TENT’S WORTH LESS -TENT’S WORTH LESS ATTITUDE IS WORTH SO MUCH MORE IT’S ME, BALDASSARE” I. Watch these two videos. It’s important, I promise. II. I’ll be honest: there’s not really a point to this blog. I don’t mean this post specifically, I mean this entire blog is just going to be whatever I feel like shitposting about at the time. There’s no overarching theme , no big endgoal, no important questions I’m trying to answer . I’m just an overconfident university student doing what we in the Deep South (of London) refer to as “chatting breeze” . However, if there’s one well that I’ll tend to draw from again and again, it will be the changing face of the Internet over the years. In my view, understanding the history of the culture of the Internet, not just events that happened on, or because of, the Internet, is the key to understanding modern life. “Okay then, random shit,” I hear you sigh. “So why have you given the blog that ...
